An adaptogen with actual trials
Ashwagandha is an herb used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, marketed as an "adaptogen" for stress. Unlike many herbal products, it has been tested in randomised trials — and some show a real effect on stress markers.
The honest picture is a genuine short-term signal, wrapped in the usual supplement caveats: short studies, variable product quality, and a safety flag worth knowing.

- It lowers cortisol and anxiety in short trials — A 60-day randomised trial of a standardised extract reduced morning cortisol and anxiety scores versus placebo, echoing earlier cortisol-reduction studies. A real, if modest, effect. (emerging)
